The 5 Friendliest Cat Breeds

kitty and child

Are you looking to adopt or buy a sweet, friendly, people-oriented cat? Most kittens seem sociable enough, but there are some breeds that tend to be far more people-oriented and friendly as adults.

These types of cats are apt to run to you when you come home, want to sit in your lap, often greet company, and follow you around as you do your chores. These guys adore people and are often happier with humans than with other cats.

When considering your new feline companion, bear in mind that breeding matters, but so does raising! Get your cat from a reputable breeder who socialized her kittens, or adopt an adult that already exhibits the behavior you desire. Never get a kitten from a pet store. No matter what they tell you, no reputable breeder sells to a store. A registered kennel/cattery name does not a reputable breeder make.

A cat doesn’t have to be a pure-bred to be a sweet, loving, friendly companion. Some of the best cats I’ve ever known came from the local barn or were found as strays. Please consider adopting an adult cat from a rescue or shelter as you search for your new best friend.
